$2.99 school tunic

dropped by savers today in an effort to find another cheap blazer. i find it very difficult to find clothes that fit in the adults section, so you'll often find me browsing in the kids section. looks a bit suss ... going through kids clothing, especially in the 'school uniform' racks. nevertheless, i found a cute little school tunic for a mere $2.99. now, if the tunic actually fit me, i would have left it as is and added bits here and there. however, my upper half is apparently larger than a 6 year old's. so i did a little unstitching, added a couple buttons and wallah! a magnificent little preppy piece that i will be strutting around in sometime soon. i bought the buttons a while ago from clegs, but didn't have a use for them ... all i knew was i had to have them. they definitely came in handy. love.

re: victorian cop rape post

to whom it may concern,

i understand that the entry i posted regarding this issue may have been inconsiderate towards your family. i did not intend for the post to be exposed to the public. i was unaware that my blog was even search-able on google ... assuming that is how you found my blog. although, i'm still unsure as to how you ever stumbled upon my site, unless you searched deep within google ... which i tried, but to no avail.

that said, i would like to emphasise that i did not in any way point out anything negative or judge the person in question. all i noted was that phillip and i were once close to this person. point being, it's a small world. below that was the news article i found on the internet. i didn't make any comment on the article.

also note, should someone have stumbled upon my site and found that post - i can assure you, it would probably have been overlooked as an innocent post by a young nobody. my voice in this media consumed cyber-world is non-existent.

i apologise if the post had affected you emotionally in any way. it was not my intention. i have since deleted the post. i hope all the best for your family.

yours sincerely,

amanda

temptation

i remember learning about this in uni - social psychology.
" ... beginning in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, Mischel pioneered work illuminating the ability to delay gratification and to exert self-control in the face of strong situational pressures and emotionally 'hot' temptations. His studies with preschoolers in the late 1960s, often referred to as 'the marshmallow experiment', examined the processes and mental mechanisms that enable a young child to forego immediate gratification and to wait instead for a larger desired but delayed reward. Continuing research with these original participants has examined how preschool delay of gratification ability links to development over the life course, and may predict a variety of important outcomes (e.g., SAT scores, social and cognitive competence, educational attainment, and drug use), and can have significant protective effects against a variety of potential vulnerabilities. This work also opened a route to research on temporal discounting in decision-making, and most importantly into the mental mechanisms that enable cognitive and emotional self-control, thereby helping to demystify the concept of willpower (Mischel et al., 1989; Mischel & Ayduk, 2004)" - wikipedia
i guess the red head is pretty much screwed ... ha!
