chloe

Narrator: Oh, yeah, Chloe... Chloe looked the way Meryl Streep's skeleton would look if you made it smile and walk around the party being extra nice to everybody.
Chloe: Well, I'm still here. But I don't know for how long. That's as much certainty as anyone can give me. But I've got some good news: I no longer have any fear of death. But... I am in a pretty lonely place. No-one will have sex with me. I'm so close to the end and all I want is to get laid for the last time. I have pornographic movies in my apartment, and lubricants, and amyl nitrite...
Group Leader: Thank you, Chloe... everyone, let's thank Chloe.

sas christian

"My original inspirations relied heavily on anime, Tamara De Lempicka and Mark Ryden. I loved the creative expression of the Harajuku kids in Tokyo. They filled me with such hope and excitement. Originally the intention of my paintings was just about creating a strong image, purely visual. I wanted to impart a modern tongue-in-cheek humor, incorporating my experiences. Contemporary, ballsy, flirty, weepy girls; punk, catholic, no-nonsense, damaged but not broken girls. Funny, intelligent, unusual, independent, odd ball, outsiders. Lovely." - sas christian

my holga is here

and i love it. and i love the parcel it came in. and it's so vintage looking. i'm in love with my holga, and i haven't even taken it out for a stroll yet. never fear, it will lose its click-ginity soon ... once i figure out how to work it. oh, the joys of youtube.

bent objects

"Basically, I get ideas for photographs when everyday objects remind me of something else. Then I try to think about how I can show others the connection I made. The next step - I try really hard to take it one step further- add humor, emotion of some kind, maybe an "aha" moment. For example, with "Mail Order Bride", I came up with the characters, but the little chair against the door really makes that shot for most people." - terry border

who's graduating?

i am. checked my marks this morning ... an hour and a half after the results were released. which is a fair effort considering every other year i've waited at least a week after. reason being, i would rather a letter come to my house and tell me i've failed - than an F staring at me blankly on my computer screen. why? i don't know. i have a good relationship with my computer. it's good to me. i'd like to keep it that way. i kid i kid. or am i?

i feel free. i can sit around, do nothing and not have to think about uni or studying. although, i really should start looking into those recruitment jobs. can't stay at subway forever, that place is starting to shit me. rushin come back. but i don't want to get into a serious job just yet. i want a few months of retail work before i go all hardcore. hey, i'm going to be the first person to graduate on my mum's side. shibby.

casey calvert

"Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert, 26, was pronounced dead on Saturday after police were called to the band's tour bus outside Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club around 2:30 p.m. and found him unconscious. The Washington Post reported that Calvert's death came one day after he and his bandmates — frontman JT Woodruff, guitarist Micah Carli, bassist Matt Ridenour and drummer Eron Bucciarelli — boarded the bus to begin their Wintour 2007 outing, which kicked off Friday night in Detroit. Police are still awaiting results of an autopsy, though some reports speculate that his death might have been caused by a pre-existing condition related to acute asthma, a theory which the band has dismissed." - mtv.com
and yes, i am aware that this is somewhat old news. but i thought i'd write an entry about it now. i can't just let it slide given hawthorne heights made a huge contribution to my screamo phase ... emo phase - call it what you may. just need to clarify that i was not emo - and i think all people who do slit their wrists and people who consistently complain about their lives (or the world) in that gloomy emo manner - are attention seekers. harsh, i know.

so not only have hawthorne heights lost their guitarist but they've also lost their screamer. casey calvert is the reason why i loved hawthorne heights in the first place. i would consider hh as one of the bands with the perfect scream (quantity and the sound of the scream in itself), along with a change of pace circa '05, senses fail and silverstein. with regard to . they were also my first ever overage gig. yes, the one where i got hit with a water bottle. so yes, this is definitely some shit news for me despite having temporarily diverted from the screamo genre. check 2:15 below - eargasms.

fuck the police

"Adopting all the attitude of hip hop posturing, Dash Snow’s Fuck the Police presents a prized collection of newspaper headlines emblazoned with instances cop corruption. Each salacious story is splattered with cum and framed and mounted as a trophy. Wittily combining protest with hard-core bravado, Snow’s installation draws upon fictional connotations to conjure sociopathic images of gangsta persona. In his ballsy statement of counter-culture vehemence, Snow merges Warhol reference with Tarantino sensationalism in humorously pathological display." - notcot

lori earley

"Lori Earley is a contemporary surrealist figurative artist who began exhibiting her works in 2004. Born and raised in New York, Earley was an accomplished and gifted artist from a young age. As a maturing adolescent, she discovered her distinct style and fondness for painting deeply personal subject matter. She then began her journey towards becoming a professional oil painter through fine art training at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Her innate passion for expressing mood and emotion on canvas and paper along with her mastery of technique in oil and graphite was soon recognized, in the United States and abroad. Earley was acclaimed as an exceptional new talent, praised for her authentic portraiture. Her stylized, elongated subjects echoed Mannerist elements and the dramatic lighting of the Baroque period. Her distorted realism drew attention from established artists, collectors, and galleries which immediately propelled Earley to the forefront of a burgeoning art movement. Her recognition as a leading female contemporary master painter grew internationally and moved Earley into the celebrated realm of solo exhibitions in Seattle, Los Angeles, New York City and London. Earley's stunning portraits have attracted an audience of collectors who treasure owning a rare, truly unique work of art. While her femme fatale portraits mature in style and intensity, they retain her signature ethereal quality that embodies an undeniably feminine force. Her portraits always capture elusive moments in the artist's individual perception and experience, viewed through her imaginative lens." - lori earley
