### the peter principle proven

In case you've ever wondered why ignorance rises to the executive level, here is a simple explanation that is also a mathematical proof:

Knowledge is Power. Time is Money.

And, as every actuary (with some physics training) knows:

Work / Time = Power

So, if Knowledge = Power and Time = Money, then through simple substitutions,

Work / Money = Knowledge

Solving for Money, we get:

Work / Knowledge = Money

Thus, If Work is held constant as a positive number (no matter how small!) Money approaches infinity as Knowledge approaches zero.

What this means is:

All else being equal, the less you know, the more you make.

### the peter principle

ha! the peter principle relates to situations outside work too.

Lazear's (2004) view of the Peter Principle: -
From an outsider's view of the employee's work history, it appears that the promotion was the trigger for a decline in work, when all the while, the productivity being demonstrated before the promotion was actually artificial. In Lazear's view, it's not incompetence that's the eventual result of promotions, but an employee's desire to work less that's to blame for less productivity in his new, elevated position.

This is also seen in human courtship rituals. When a man finds a potential mate, he'll spend more time and energy on making himself appear attractive and interesting. When a commitment is reached, the amount of time and energy spent on these pursuits inevitably declines, what some refer to as "letting yourself go."

### more fabric

bought more fabric for project little hurricano. i love this frog one. so cute! the lady in the store actually remembers us now. meanwhile, we've discussed and the following case sizes will be available: small = 5 inches; medium = 7 inches; large = 8 inches (note: delilah, we have yet to discuss height. woops?). for now we're thinking cases with zip (s, m, l), passport pocket, book cover. more to come ... at the moment we're just trying to get out shit together.

ETA: small = 5 inches x 4 inches; medium = 7 inches x 4.5 inches; large = 8 inches x 5 inches

### d.i.y. studded top

as per previous blog entry, i wanted to make a studded tee. unfortunately i only had a long singlet thing, the tee will have to wait. initially wanted a big triangle, similar to the white trumpet tee ... making the tee sag. however, this top wasn't baggy enough for the effect, so i settled for this pattern instead.

used a kids stud pack bought from lincraft. the studs are not as sturdy on the top as i had hoped, but that may be due to the flimsy fabric. nevertheless, this is the end result.

### the impossible project

i've been patiently waiting for an announcement to be made re: company buying polaroid instant film production. i knew polaroid wouldn't completely die on me. the world is not that cruel. the impossible project's aim is to " ... re-invent and re-start production of analog integral film for vintage Polaroid cameras"
" ... The Impossible mission is NOT to re-build Polaroid Integral film but (with the help of strategic partners) to develop a new product with new characteristics, consisting of new optimised components, produced with a streamlined modern setup. An innovative and fresh analog material, sold under a new brand name that perfectly will match the global re-positioning of Integral Films."
this makes me oh so happy. polaroid is not dead ... yet. i was hoping polaroid wouldn't let instant photography become a past time, despite the breakthrough in digital photography. if polaroid want to move on, they can hand over instant film production to these geniuses. interested in seeing what these new optimised components are. although, i'd be just as happy if they only produced the original film.

alas! the mechanical sound of a polaroid capture shall continue.
