melbourne design market
i love this event. although many of the designers were the same as those at the last melbourne design market, i still enjoyed it. my dear friend lucy recently moved into a new apartment, so we had more of a reason to be there. also, we noticed this time round the market was packed. frustration. we felt like cattle. but we managed to plough our way through each stall one at a time ... albeit very slowly. once again, i managed to pick up things i really don't need but am more than happy to wave my very much loved and overused plastic at.
anthems for a seventeen-year-old girl
Used to be the one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that
Now you're all gone, got your make-up on and you're not coming back
Bleachin' your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash, under your breath
Bleachin' your teeth, smiling flash, talking trash, under my window
Park that car, drop that phone,
Sleep on the floor, dream about me
Used to be the one of the rotten ones and I liked you for that
Now you're all gone, got your make-up on and you're not coming back

village cuckoo clock
i am in love with this village cuckoo clock.
"This modern cuckoo clock is artfully detailed in white washed wood and comes complete with stag head decoration, pine cone weights, swinging pendulum and a cuckoo bird that emerges on the hour to flap its wings and make its call. This nostalgic remake is quartz battery powered with an on/off option for the electronic cuckoo call. A charming tribute to its European origins." - uma

plan it
i find it really offensive when a so called friend doesn't want to make solid plans with you. it's fairly standard, you make plans and meet at a specified time and place. holding off on making plans may be a way out of blowing the person off on the day, but that does not necessarily make it a better alternative. although the intentions may be in the right place, it doesn't leave the recipient feeling all that fantastic. in fact, it's a little degrading.
unless there is a legitimate reason for a person's lack of ability to commit to a set plan, then from where i see it, they're questioning whether or not you're worthy of their time. essentially, "let's not plan till last minute" translates to one of the following: -

- "yeah sounds good, but if something better comes up i might have to cancel on you"; or
- "yeah sounds good, but if i'm too hung over to function i might have to cancel on you"; or
- "yeah sounds good, but if i get lucky that night i most definitely will cancel on you"
i'd much rather spend time with people who appreciate my company, than waste it on someone who can't commit a mere two hours of their time to me. it's a give and take world my dear, there are social etiquettes that us civilised and considerate beings adhere to. perhaps you have achieved some sort of self-proclaimed higher authority where you have attained the ultimate power to treat people like shit without any repercussions, or you could just be an ass. my best bet would be the latter.
so here's my two cents, be the good friend that you claim to be, set a date and just um, oh i don't know ... show up? genius.

brooks in green
brooks b17 green leather with copper rails. oh, how i'd love to ride you. black frame, green saddle, matching green handlebars, brown leather saddle bag. i love how versatile a black frame can be.
sadly, not available in the women's b17. that said, the women's b17 is designed for those who intend to ride with a skirt (source), and i really don't have that option with my road bike. however, would people be less inclined to knick a ladies saddle? don't want to fork out over a hundred on a saddle for it to be knicked by some pov bastard. they're ample in number on the streets of inner city melbourne. but i do quite like the green saddle, i like it a lot.

mothers and tattoos
mothers say the darndest things to keep their children from getting tattoos.
a: i'm getting a tattoo.
mum: you're such a weird girl. you have all these piercings and now you want a tattoo.
a: i'm not weird. you have a tattoo.
mum: i got mine as a souvenir from thailand.
a: ok, well then i'll get a tattoo when i'm in europe.
mum: but you're not married yet.
a: how does that have anything to do with getting a tattoo?
mum: you can't get a tattoo until you're married.
