bicycle wine rack
don't fancy a six pack? you're more of a wine person? you and me both. designer jesse herbert has the perfect solution - a bicycle wine rack. genius. well, technically you could just pop that bottle of merlot in the basket - but this contraption adds a special little something to the bike frame, and i'm a sucker for leather bike accessories. yes, i too questioned whether the straps could hold the bottle throughout a bumpy ride. jesse and his fellow suburbans are pretty certain it can withstand anything - check out the clip here.

walnut studiolo
could leather bike accessories be any more beautiful? on my search for leather handle bar tape, i came across geoffrey franklin's walnut studio. handmade genuine leather bike accessories designed by an architecture student - how can you resist? i am especially loving the u-lock holster, drop bar wraps and the bike portage strap.

my helmet totoro
so i've become a tad obsessed with this totoro character over the past few weeks. well actually, i've been having hayao miyazaki marathons as of late. one of my many methods of procrastination. back to totoro - he is just too darn cute. he's a combination of two things i love - rabbits and plumpness. oh, how i love plumpness. i found this 'my neighbor totoro' car decal on ebay (username: ndsss1xtp) and have spiffed up my bland ol' protec helmet. gives it a little bit of personality methinks.

brooks b17 special honey
after much pondering and contemplation, i decided on the brooks b17 special honey. i was initially going to settle for the brooks b17 special green, but abbotsford cycles only had one in stock, which was just a shade too dark for my liking. i selected the b17 mens design, rather than womens. apparently the womens saddle doesn't suit all the ladies. i think it would look out of place on my road bike, probably best suited for a low rider or step-through frame. why fork out the extra dough for the 'special' edition? the aesthetically pleasing hand-hammered copper rivets, could not resist. quite happy with my saddle. now i just have to wait patiently for this dismal melbourne weather be over, then i shall start moulding this little beauty.

All bicycles are realized through craft handed production processes and constantly subjected to strict quality controls. The collection are embellished with unique details and features, which make the bicycles an authentic jewel of tradition and technology: the hand-sewn leather grips, the leather saddle with a new ergonomic design, the front light, the traditional dynamo and the road brakes, which were typical of the Montante bicycles of the Thirties." - milanice.com

"Our bike frame bag was modeled after a vintage smaller bike frame bag we found in France. Check our blog page for more images. It's perfect for a paperback, gloves, phone, sunglasses or even a sandwich. Three loops with dull silver buckles to secure it to the frame. Collar button closures on the front flap. Adjustable. Hand-stitched with wax cording. Hand-oiled and edged. 8" x 5" x 2" Made in the USA." - n0. 211 bike pouch
"Our hand-stitched shoulder satchel is modeled after a WWII Belgium Map Case we had. It was just too small for our use so we re-designed it and made ours larger. There is nothing else on the market like this. Each one takes a few hours to complete. One solid pieces of cow hide is stitched with heavy wax cording to form the satchel. We had all the hardware cast in white bronze. Comes with an all leather adjustable strap with shoulder piece, dull silver rings and collar buttons. Hand-stitched detailing throughout. Hand-oiled and edged. 9 3/4" X 11." Made in the USA. There are a number of customer sent images on our blog page featuring their well-used No. 95's. This is a heirloom piece that you will pass down to the next generation. Fits and iPad quite nicely with room for cords, etc." - no. 95 shoulder satchel

bike shelf
isn't woodwork a beautiful thing? it makes everything feel so homey, even a bike hook (of sorts) contraption. designer, chris brigham, has humbly named it the 'bike shelf'. designed for bike riders with little household space. the new yorkers of the world. or simply for those with an eye for woodwork design and a love of bicycles. serves two functions - 1) bike hook; 2) a shelf. ingenious.

the little mule co
i hope to check this place out on saturday. the place just looks too good to delay this post. i'll provide an update with more content once i get a real feel for the little mule. currently only open on saturdays (9:00am to 3:30pm) as they're still adding the finishing touches.
"We formed the Little Mule Company as we love bicycles and coffee. So we decided to open shop, the kind of place we’d like to hang out and we’re pretty fussy about this stuff. So it had to have some sweet bikes and great coffee." - the litte mule
"What do they have? Coffee. From the Little Marionette; 'crowd pleaser' blend. What else? Bikes. Single speed; custom frames designed by Ben Bates; nice parts. Furniture. Some of it recycled from the old Botany Bay Woolsheds; colonial handiwork right there. Magazines; Bone Shaker, specifically. Food. Bircher; bagels; fresh; organic. In the cafe scoop system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the folks who just want a coffee; and the dedicated reporters who seriously need to chill out. These are their stories." - threethousand

bike shop
"It’s hard to mistake what business they’re in. A bicycle shop in Germany. In lieu of a sign, the proprietors decided to advertise with a wall of real bikes. The caption says about 120 bikes are mounted on the buildings exterior." - patspapers

brooks in green
brooks b17 green leather with copper rails. oh, how i'd love to ride you. black frame, green saddle, matching green handlebars, brown leather saddle bag. i love how versatile a black frame can be.
sadly, not available in the women's b17. that said, the women's b17 is designed for those who intend to ride with a skirt (source), and i really don't have that option with my road bike. however, would people be less inclined to knick a ladies saddle? don't want to fork out over a hundred on a saddle for it to be knicked by some pov bastard. they're ample in number on the streets of inner city melbourne. but i do quite like the green saddle, i like it a lot.
