"Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert, 26, was pronounced dead on Saturday after police were called to the band's tour bus outside Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club around 2:30 p.m. and found him unconscious. The Washington Post reported that Calvert's death came one day after he and his bandmates — frontman JT Woodruff, guitarist Micah Carli, bassist Matt Ridenour and drummer Eron Bucciarelli — boarded the bus to begin their Wintour 2007 outing, which kicked off Friday night in Detroit. and yes, i am aware that this is somewhat old news. but i thought i'd write an entry about it now. i can't just let it slide given hawthorne heights made a huge contribution to my screamo phase ... emo phase - call it what you may. just need to clarify that i was not emo - and i think all people who do slit their wrists and people who consistently complain about their lives (or the world) in that gloomy emo manner - are attention seekers. harsh, i know.

so not only have hawthorne heights lost their guitarist but they've also lost their screamer. casey calvert is the reason why i loved hawthorne heights in the first place. i would consider hh as one of the bands with the perfect scream (quantity and the sound of the scream in itself), along with a change of pace circa '05, senses fail and silverstein. with regard to . they were also my first ever overage gig. yes, the one where i got hit with a water bottle. so yes, this is definitely some shit news for me despite having temporarily diverted from the screamo genre. check 2:15 below - eargasms.
